The Siege Is Lifted – 2 Kings 7

Throughout our life we are often face with attacks. Sometimes the enemy lay a siege around your life. There seem to be no way out, no sunlight peeking through the clouds, not a little ray of hope. The choice you make at this time can be deadly. There is a specific time that God has designated for your deliverance. Be patient and with on God’s timing. God has an answer for your problems. The only sure answer is to let go and let God work. Only God can lift the siege only he can break the stronghold.

The siege
“The protracted process of siege was used when a city was too powerful for a direct assault or when for other reasons the invader preferred to wait. By encircling the city the attackers sought to cut off its supplies and outside assistance, until the defenders were forced to surrender. An encircling mound and fortified camps were necessary to protect the more passive invading army. Sieges could last up to several years, such as the Assyrian siege of Samaria (2 Kid. 17:5).”

In order for your siege to be lifted here are a four things to remember.

1. There is always a word from the Lord – v 1-2
No matter what your situation God has a specific word, a timely word and a relevant word. There is power in the spoken word of the Lord. The prophets of old commanded the attention of their listeners by prefacing their message with thus saith the Lord or the word of the Lord said.

Note that even in a hopeless situation there is always a word from the Lord. Our victory depends on us hearing from the Lord. He has instructions how to break sieges. There is a plan but you have to be hearing in order to receive the direction.

a. The word is specific – it speaks to the situation at hand. At this time tomorrow. God works in seasons. I can feel the change in the season of this church.

b. The word is not subjected to man’s limitations

c. You can know what the word said but don’t know the Word
Is. 55:11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
Is. 66:2 Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?” declares the LORD. “This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word.
Jer. 1:12 ¶ The LORD said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.”
Jer. 23:28 Let the prophet who has a dream tell his dream, but let the one who has my word speak it faithfully. For what has straw to do with grain?” declares the LORD.
Jer. 23:29 “Is not my word like fire,” declares the LORD, “and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?
John 5:24 ¶ “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.
John 8:51 I tell you the truth, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death.”
Rev. 3:8 I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.

2. God is looking for desperation
In the case of the lepers and the king both were at the point of desperation. They saw no way out; they could not solve their problems. The problems needed a miracle something beyond human control it was now time for the Devine. Samaria is besieged there was famine in the land death was looming they were going to die from starvation or by the hands of the enemy. The lepers had no choice, stay where they were and die or go into the Armenians camp and die. The following are characteristics of desperation.
a. God is waiting for us to yield totally to Him
b. It is at this point faith is the only thing left
c. Every angle you try end up a failure
d. You are uncomfortable with your current failures and are looking for at least one break through

3. God will fight for you
Man’s extremity is God’s opportunity of making his own power to be glorious: his time to appear for his people is when their strength is gone. Unbelief is a sin by which men greatly dishonor and displease God, and deprive themselves of the favors he designed for them. Such will be the portion of those that believe not the promise of eternal life; they shall see it at a distance, but shall never taste of it. But no temporal deliverances and mercies will in the end profit sinners, unless they are led to repentance by the goodness of God.

a. Show up and watch God work
b. Good news often comes from least likely places
“Samaria was delivered, and did not know it. The watchmen on the walls were not aware of the retreat of the enemy, so silently did they steal away. But Providence employed four lepers to be the intelligencers, who had their lodging without the gate, being excluded from the city, as ceremonially unclean”

c. When you are bless remember to share the wealth

4. Beware of the king
The King knew he had no reason to expect that God should appear thus wonderfully for him, having forfeited his favor by his unbelief and impatience. He was not aware of no reason the Syrians would leave their possesions behind. Those that are leaders have to be careful not to stand in the way of God deliverance.

a. Those in authority often can hinder the blessing
b. Surround yourself with people who will tell you the truth no matter what
c. Don’t be too quick to doubt

When the siege is lifted there will be plenty for everyone. It will be a miraculous event. Those who doubt God’s resolve to step into our situation must be careful. You might only live to see the beginning of the break through and not inherit. Pray to God and ask forgives. Ask Him to lead you to your victory and to be patient. This Time Tomorrow is an appointed time. God said it and I believe it.
